ABA Therapy
Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) therapy is a scientifically supported, evidence-based method that helps individuals with autism develop skills and manage behaviors. ABA is rooted in the science of behavior, an evidence-based approach for promoting positive behavior change.
Our team of experienced therapists will develop a personalized treatment plan tailored to your child’s individual strengths, preferences, and challenges. Goals are set based on baseline assessments, then broken down into smaller, manageable steps. These steps are arranged in a logical order and taught one at a time.
Evaluate behavior:
Identify obstacles preventing the learner from acquiring new skills.
Example: A child throws tantrums when asked to do homework. The obstacle could be difficulty with the task, frustration, or a lack of understanding of how to begin.
Identify the function of the behavior:
Understand how the behavior serves the learner—whether it provides attention, comfort, escape, or access to enjoyable things.
Example: The tantrums may function to escape the homework task because the child finds it overwhelming or frustrating.Develop evidence-based interventions:
Create strategies to teach the learner more effective, socially acceptable, and safe ways to express themselves, promoting independence over time.
Example: The intervention may involve teaching the child to use a break card or request assistance when feeling frustrated, so they can communicate their need for help instead of resorting to tantrums.Implement solutions based on data:
Our therapists work on meaningful, individualized goals, using data to drive progress during each session.
Example: The therapist tracks how often the child uses the break card or asks for help instead of throwing a tantrum. Based on the data, they can adjust the intervention to increase the child's use of these new communication strategies.
ABA therapy helps narrow the developmental gap between your child and their peers by focusing on areas that need improvement, boosting communication and social skills, and encouraging independence. This plan is designed to support your child's progress in all environments—whether at home, school, or in the community.
