Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) is an evidence-based treatment for creating positive behavior change. This treatment uses the scientific method to:
1. Evaluate behavior.
What obstacles are impeding the learner from acquiring new skills?
2. Identify the functional component to the behavior.
How is the behavior “working” for the learner? Does it provide attention? Comfort? Escape from something they don’t like? Does it get them closer to things they enjoy?
3. Develop evidence-based treatment to address the behavior.
How can we teach the learner new ways to express themselves? Ways that increase their independence over time. Are more effective, socially acceptable, and safe.
4. Implement these solutions driven by data.
Each session, our therapists work on goals that are meaningful and important to our learner.
